Hi!

My name is Teryn. I'm a Canadian nurse, triathlete, humanitarian, lover of all things travel-related (except bugs and washing socks by hand), and am now known as "mama" to my beautiful daughter. I never travel without hockey tape and my bug hut (the greatest invention ever), and now that I'm a mum, I believe even more than ever that coffee is an essential part of life.

My Story

I started travelling when I was 22. Having freshly graduated from University, I hopped a plane on my first solo trip abroad. My first destination was Nepal for a 3 week hike of the Annapurna Circuit in the Himalayas, then backpacked Thailand for a month, followed by a couple weeks visiting friends in Hong Kong. I returned home after 2.5 months to complete my Nursing degree at the University of Calgary. But I was hooked. Traveling was my life, and suddenly everything revolved around that. I couldn't wait to get on a plane and discover some new far off land.

After graduating with my second degree, I combined my love of travel and nursing and started doing humanitarian work. I've volunteered in multiple countries including Haiti, Nicaragua, Cambodia, the Philippines, Nepal, Uganda, and Norway. When I finally made the decision to make humanitarian work my full-time job it was suggested to me that I start a blog. I had no idea how to "blog" or if I could even write. But not only did I re-discover my love for aid work whilst working in Bangladesh, but I also discovered my love for writing.

Now that I'm back in Canada working as a nurse and raising my beautiful little girl, I've continued on writing. Turns out one of my favourite things to do is rearrange all the letters of the alphabet multiple times. So as the world opens back up, allowing me to once again explore all the reaches of this beautiful creation, I hope you'll continue to enjoy my tales of life abroad.
